Excerpt from the June 2009 Montague Ratepayers Association Newsletter
Have you ever driven by a place and wondered; What is going on over there! Well, Montague has such a place, it’s called Juniper fairways. For those of you that don’t golf because of all the hype, pressure and nervousness, let me tell you that this golf course is the most therapeutic, relaxing and quiet place to play golf that I have ever had the pleasure of playing on. On one hand you have the ruggedness of Montague and on the other a golf course that has been carefully carved out of rock to give you all the challenges expected of a par 3 golf course and much more.
There is another aspect of the course and its owner that stands out, that is the flexibility that allows people of all ages who have never golfed before to come out and hit a few and just have fun. Holes were designed by studying courses that were built by Scottish golf professionals who immigrated to Canada, and each tee box has five positions from yellow for children to black for more experienced players. Juniper fairways has been an ongoing project for Scott MacDonald for more than 15 years. When we asked Scott to write something for this newsletter he wasn’t quite sure what to say. I think once you go there it will speak for itself. Did I mention that Scott is a CPGA golf professional and if asked will gladly give you a free pointer. Come out and have fun.
